NAACP of Martha’s Vineyard... Envisioning Equality for Everyone.

The NAACP (National Association for the Advancement of Colored People) is the oldest, largest, and strongest civil rights organization in the United States.

Our branch is one of the most diverse racially and ethnically anywhere. Our active programs show everyone how effective a branch can be.

All of our members are dedicated to the cause of civil rights. Individual reasons for joining are as diverse as the membership itself.

• Interact with and learn about people from diverse cultures

• Participate with other groups to promote community events

• Serve on Selection panels for Island teachers, school administrators, and search committees

• Raise funds to support local programs and national initiatives

• Assist fellow Islanders in times of need

• Attend conferences designed to strengthen resolve and skills in the ever-changing fight for equal opportunity for all

• Actively address civil rights and affirmative action violations

• Offer scholarships to our youth
